An end to Lockdown and Live Q&A with Judy Murray for any budding new female coaches!

Good evening and what a great eveing it is too!

The Government this afternoon announced an end to lockdown 2 indiciating that we can re-open the club from Thursday 3rd December.

We are awaiting further guidance from the LTA as who can play and in what capacity.  Example, one household per court or mixed households and whether singles or doubles.

Tom is hopeful that group coaching can resume from Thursday 3rd December keeping numbers to 6 per court.  Once we have all the information we can then release the updated coaching program.

If you have any questions or need guidance please contact Tom 07795562292 or info@mysportspro.co.uk

Finally, Calling all Mums/volunteers, Club Members/ Team Players and Juniors who are 16+ years old who would be interested in or are looking to to get into coaching.  Tom has been able to get our female members access to the following fantastic opportunity!

On Wednesday 2nd December, 9.30am till 12.30pm the LTA are hosting (As part of She Rallies') a FREE online Introduction to Level 1 coaching webinar followed by a live Q&A with Judy Murray. The webinar is to encourage and inspire more women and girls on to the qualification pathway. At the end of the webinar you will have been shown the basic skills of a coach (communication, organisation and observation) and how these skills are developed on a Level 1 course. No previous tennis experience is required but a bubbly personality would be a bonus!

To get involved and for more information contact Tom info@mysportspro.co.uk

We cant wait to see you all back on the court next week!

Lockdown Help, stuff to do

Two weeks into lockdown 2 and out of ideas of what to do to get your Tennis Fix?

Well here is a mini survival guide which Tom hopes will help carry you though!!

Whether you are an adult member, junior or parent this includes the links and tips which he hopes you will find useful!!

1, Facebook!! Plenty of videos can be found on social media.  So follow both Henley Tennis Club and MySportsPro.co.uk for updates and we also share videos from various sources. Give us a 'like' & 'follow'

Henley Tennis Club - https://www.facebook.com/henleytennis

My Sports Pro %u2013 https://www.facebook.com/mysportspro.co.uk

2, The LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) have set up a Tennis at Home Hub.  This includes ways you can still play during lockdown, at home drills and for the children the NEW LTA Youth at home.

3,  ONE FOR EVERYONE enhance your volleys and annoy your neighbours with throw catch against a wall.  Many variations include: use both hands - use one hand - throw with one and catch with the other.  Then finally use a racket and alternate hands.  TIP make sure you pick a spot on the wall for better accuracy and control.

If worried about being the noisy neighbour then you can purchase foam balls!

The best place for sporting goods is Henley Sports...Yes they are open!  Click and Collect from 9:30am to 12:30pm contact Alan by phone or txt 07894074455

4, CHILDREN helium balloons don't just give you a great voice they also make great targets! Attach them to a toy or something heavy enough to keep them at one height.  Children can then hit the balloon(s) which will come back to be hit again.  This has proved a hit in our household allowing a few minutes away from parenting! If you don't have helium a standard balloon provides just as much motor skill development and one activity Jamie and Andy Murray did as children! TIP alternate hands.

5, TOM IS HERE TO HELP Please get in touch with Tom if you want help or need ideas!

AND FINALLY!!!

WIN WIN WIN!!!!!!!!!!! Tom's record for bouncing a ball on the frame/edge (not the strings) of racket is 157!! The first person who beats his record will recieve free 1-2-1 lesson after lockdown2.  Video proof must be provided as evidence! Ideally via Facebook tagging both Henley Tennis Club and My Sports Pro or message Tom via WhatApp! GOOD LUCK!

See you on the court in a couple of weeks!

URGENT - PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ - Club Closed!!!!

LTA and Government directives have dictated to us to close the tennis club.

This means that the courts, grounds and club house must not be used.

The decision to use the facilities is not up to individuals thinking that it is safe to do so..

I understand that closure is frustrating and appears to be a strange decision.

However, we must abide by the decision. Please, please stay off the courts.

The LTA are working on this issue and are in dialogue with the government to try and get tennis back as soon as possible.

The committee will deem any breach of the closure directive as member misconduct and will discuss cancellation of membership with no refund.

Many thanks, Col

Club Lockdown Closure!

We trust you are well in these difficult times.

Following on from our previous email and todays parliamentary vote unfortunately, Henley Tennis Club is CLOSED for the duration of the lockdown!

This means the club is closed and the courts are off limits to everybody.

We were hopeful that at the very least that singles play would be permitted and for Tom to continue with 1-2-1 lessons. However, the Government have held firm with their strict measures to stop sporting activity.

We hope that we can all get back on the court as soon as possible post lockdown.

If you require further information and guidance please the LTA British Tennis updates - https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19---latest-advice/#england.

Please keep an eye on emails and updates during the lockdown!

See you on the court soon and stay safe!

Important update

We are all now well aware of the government announcement on Saturday to introduce a second lockdown from Thursday 5th November through to the 2nd November.

Firstly, we would like to reassure you that we are working through the details of what exactly this means for our club. We, just like you, are eager to know what this means for our members and team.

So far we understand that indoor venues such as, David Lloyd and Bisham Abbey would have to close their doors however, being an outdoor venue we hope we can stay open!!

As a naturally social distant sport the LTA are working hard to get tennis discussed with the Government debates.

Please read the latest and what you can do to help from the LTA CEO Scott Lloyd https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/november/update-from-scott-lloyd-on-the-latest-coronavirus-restrictions-in-england/

COACHING

As per the update from the LTA currently all coaching will have to stop however, if restrictions ease for outdoor Tennis the Tom hopes at the very least that 1-2-1 coaching can continue.

Tom is working hard to get updates and if you have any questions regarding the coaching program please contact him info@mysportspro.co.uk.

Thank you for your support and stay safe!
