Floodlight and Court Resurfacing Update

 Just to let you know that we have hit a delay in the installation of floodlights and resurfacing the courts.

We have only just received acceptable quotes, which the committee have now signed off.

Due to supply issues due to COVID we have been told that the lights will not be available to use until mid January.

The installation will start before then but we will be waiting on the electronics, due to our specialised non-standard installation.

The courts were going to be re-surfaced at the same time but as this may effect the immediate usage of lights, the committee have decided to postpone resurfacing until the clocks change in spring.

I know this is frustrating and disappointing.

I wish I had better news.

To clarify some details.

The floodlights and court resurfacing will only be Courts 1 and 2.

The floodlights will only be available until 9pm every day. This is due to planning application restrictions imposed by SODC.

Floodlights Approved, Clay Court Resurfacing !!!

 I would like to announce the great news that our floodlight planning application for courts 1 and 2 has been approved by SODC. We have a green light for installation. Over the next week we will be engaging with a contractor to place the order. Installation to be completed in approximately 12 weeks, ready for when darkness descends early. I would like to thank all the committee, especially Allen levy, who was lead architect responsible for submitting the planning application. Special mention to Lee West, out expert floodlight consultant. The Henley Standard and The Henley Herald are running press releases this week to cover the exciting news.

We are also planning to resurface Courts 1 and 2, hopefully at the same time as the floodlights are being installed. Our preference is for a change of surface to artificial clay. A clay surface is softer on the body and allows all year round play without frost issues . The committee welcomes feedback, or any opinions on the preferred surface. This message will also appear on our blog and I’ll put the links to the newspaper articles.  Many thank Col.

Log In and Court Booking Issues

 Logging In / User Account Access Issues

In order for a user to receive full access to your venue's site and receive the full benefits of holding a membership, members need to ensure that they are correctly logging into their account. A common issue is that the user is using the wrong login details.

If a user registers twice in error without realising and they log into their account which does not hold their latest account status (active membership, roles, parent-child relationship) this could cause various issues and confusion. You may come across the following examples:

  • The user receiving 'Access Denied' message when selecting court booking on your site;
  • The user being incorrectly charged for booking a court;
  • The user seeing padlocks against courts when trying to make a reservation.

Please be aware that a user can log into ClubSpark and your venue in multiple ways. When a user registers with your venue, they can register directly with Clubspark or they can sign up using one of the following - FaceBook, LTA or Gmail. What a user must remember, once they have registered using one of these methods they must log in using the same method every-time.

The contact may have registered account with Facebook and Clubspark. The symbols to the right of the contact record will indicate the method they used to register with.

If the user logs in via Clubspark and tries to book a court and your venue has created booking rules that differ for member and non-member, then this user will not receive the full benefits of their membership when logging in via Facebook. You can see this in the screenshot above, as the contact record with the ClubSpark symbol, the membership status is showing as 'Lapsed'.

Their active membership is held against their Facebook account, so they will need to log in via Facebook every time for the platform to recognise them as a member.

Should you receive any queries from individuals that cannot book courts, then the first step is to check with them how they are logging in and also check in the contacts module the method they used to create their account.

If you have duplicated contacts similar to the example above then check with the user what method they would prefer to access their account with. You can then go ahead and merge the contact records, ensuring you keep the correct account.
